Lesaffre Announces Completion of Sino-French Joint Venture with Guangxi Xianggui Group for Annual Yeast Extract Production LineOn November 3rd, 2024, Lesaffre announced the successful completion of the Sino-French joint venture yeast extract production line project with Guangxi Xianggui Group and held a grand completion ceremony in the industrial park of Guangxi (Chongzuo) Xianggui Yeast Technology Co.
Guangxi Xianggui Yeast Technology Co., Ltd. and Guangxi Xianggui Biotechnology Co., Ltd. are joint ventures of Lesaffre and Guangxi Xianggui Group, located in Chongzuo City, Guangxi, the sugar capital of China. The company mainly produces yeast products for noodles, noodle improver and yeast extract series products, and plans to complete the expansion of production line in three phases, which is listed as a major project of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in 2008.
Mr. Ding Dongdi, Deputy Secretary of Chongzuo Municipal Party Committee, Mr. Thibault De Ladoucette, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lesaffre Group, and Mr. Brice-Audren Riché, Chief Executive Officer of Lesaffre Group, attended the event and delivered speeches.
Also attending the completion ceremony were Yang Fugang, Second Grade Inspector of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of the Autonomous Region, Diao Weihong, Vice Mayor of Chongzuo City, Bu Guoliang, Deputy Secretary General of Chongzuo Municipal Government and Deputy Director of the Office, Teng Shaolan, Director of the Bureau of Industry and Information Technology of Chongzuo City, Zhang Xuekui, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongzuo Municipality, Zhao Hanceng, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Industry and Information Technology of Chongzuo Municipality, Li Honglan, Mayor of the Government of Jiangzhou District and a number of leaders and guests from Chongzuo City, Jiangzhou District and representatives of management from the Lesaffre Group. Under the joint witness of the guests and media partners, the yeast extract production line project between Lesaffre and Guangxi Xianggui Group was officially completed and put into production.
The ceremony started with the cheerful sound of gongs and drums, and six lions, which are very characteristic of Chinese folk culture, lined up on both sides and greeted the guests into the main venue with their vigorous and dynamic postures. All the guests brought the Zhuang brocade bracelets with strong Guangxi national characteristics and signed the Swallow icon, which symbolizes the brand of Lesaffre, to greet the important moment of the completion ceremony together.

After the opening ceremony, the host, Ms. Li Honglan, Mayor of Jiangzhou District, introduced the important guests who came to the scene. Mr. Ding Dongdi, Secretary of Chongzuo Municipal Party Committee, firstly delivered a speech on the stage, in which he congratulated the successful completion of the project and emphasized his determination to build a friendly business environment and give full support to foreign enterprises like Lesaffre.

Mr. Thibault, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lesaffre Group, then took the stage and mentioned in his speech, “The project launched today is an important milestone in Lesaffre’s journey of cooperation with China. The project is one of the 17 strategic cooperation agreements signed at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on November 2, 2015, with President Xi Jinping and former French President François Hollande present to witness the signing ceremony. This project is an important outcome of the cooperation between Lesaffre and Guangxi Xianggui Group, and we are very grateful to our partners Guangxi Xianggui Group and Mr. Lao Jianming. It symbolizes the unbreakable relationship between China and France and our strong commitment to sustainable growth and innovation on both sides.”
Mr. Li Harmon, Global CEO of Lesaffre, delivered a speech.
Before the applause, Lesaffre’s Global CEO, Li Harmon, took the stage to deliver a speech reviewing Lesaffre’s history of being rooted in the Chinese market, saying, “Lesaffre, a French family-owned company with over 170 years of history in fermentation and microbiology, has been present in China for more than 40 years and has worked closely with local industries and communities. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, the successful completion of Lesaffre’s Sino-French Joint Venture Yeast Extract Production Line Project not only marks Lesaffre’s remarkable achievements in technological innovation, production capacity enhancement and market expansion, but also serves as yet another example of exemplary Sino-French cooperation, and is also a testimony to the economic cooperation and friendship of the two countries and injects a strong impetus to the economic growth of Guangxi region.
