Over 40 years ago, Lesaffre introduced Saf-Instant yeast, which appeared in the Chinese market as the first instant high-activity yeast brand. At present, Lesaffre has 6 factories in China, 4 baking centersin Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, more than 1,500 employees.

Lesaffre acquired a controlling stake in Inner Mongolia Biohymn Biotechnology Co., Ltd., establishing a production site base in northern China. This marked the completion of Lesaffre’s nationwide production network across major regions.

To date, Lesaffre China offers yeast (including Saf-Instant yeast) and improvers for baking and traditional Chinese pastries, alongside biotechnology and life science solutions: food-grade yeast extracts, high-performance nutrients for microbial/cell cultures, probiotics for human/animal nutrition and crop protection, and yeast for brewing, wine, and renewable fuels.

Significance: Lesaffre’s first wholly owned production site base in China, marking its official market entry.

Location: Linxi County, Chifeng, Inner Mongolia Province
Strategic Role: Fills the gap in northern China, optimizing national production capacity.
Core Business: Dry yeast and yeast extracts, including Saf-Instant yeast, serving North and Northeast China.

Location: Chongzuo, Guangxi Province
Partnership: Joint ventures with Guangxi Sungain.
