Working together to better feed and protect the planet

It is Lesaffre’s continuous commitment to be a responsible and caring corporate citizen. We have been working with different organizations to contribute to the well-being of the society. One organization that we have been supporting for the past 5 years is Shanghai Young Bakers, a charity program which trains future bakers and pastry chefs.

Shanghai Young Bakers (SYB) is a non-profit organization that provides fully-sponsored French bakery and pastry training to marginalized Chinese youth aged 17 to 23. During the one year training, SYB students learn traditional French bakery and pastry, life skills and English, combined with a practical internship at international 5-star hotels. Equipped with professional training, SYB students can find qualified jobs and lead independent lives upon graduation.

Lesaffre has been an active sponsor of Shanghai Young Bakers since 2011 by providing quality yeast for free and sponsoring their bakery teachers. In addition, Lesaffre has been offering training on yeast, one or two professional training by world famous bakers have been organized each year, and also had the pleasure to welcome the SYB students to visit its yeast production facilities in Mingguang each year. Lesaffre is also proud to have recruited two graduates of the program, giving them the opportunity to develop their career within our organization.
